I have just finished working with Oslo Beach Assembly, Port Shepstone, KwaZulu Natal. It is around 1,000 miles from our home in Cape Town (2 hrs by plane). I visited there a year or so ago so it was nice to see everyone again.
I have had the opportunity to preach 17 times in the last 10 days in a variety of settings with Bible Teaching each night and some other things during the day. It was a special privilege to visit both the High School and the Senior Primary school twice during the visit. The interest in the gospel from the young people was breathtaking. In an open Q&A I was asked things like "my family say I must also respect the ancestors in the spirit world in order to go to Heaven-what do you think?", "how can I believe on Jesus?", "will I get a second chance if I go to Hell?".
The Bible Teaching each evening was well attended with great interest from many believers (and unbelievers) who attend denominations in the area. The thirst for the Word of God made it a privilege to teach each evening. Some of the unbelievers are "not far from the kingdom" so we are continuing to pray for news of salvation. I believe the Lord is really at work through the assembly here.
To top the trip off, I also saw my first snake in the wild since I moved to South Africa. I'm not sure what the Green Mamba thought of me, but I was interested to see him!
I now move on to visit some of the Durban Assemblies for Bible Teaching in the week that lies ahead. They are around 1-2 hrs from Port Shepstone. Prayer is always appreciated.
