During the last visit we heard about a village in the bush called Congo-Bashi where 7 men and women have been saved after Papa Lekanda's regular visitation with gospel literature given to him in 2014. They have bought a small house to gather in and have started a Sunday School. Papa Lekanda, Mwansa, Moise and I went and stayed there for a weekend of Bible teaching and fellowship. We arrived safely but a bit late after being delayed at a bridge that needed repaired before we could cross it.
We had 7 sessions of teaching on the authority of the word of God, the character of God, the character of a child of God and the character of a local church. The evening sessions were held in compete darkness and although I couldn't see a single face while I was preaching they were special meetings. On Saturday night after preaching on the character of God we closed in prayer but those gathered just sat in silence. Mwansa gave out a hymn and by the end of the hymn some of those gathered were on their knees seeking God for salvation. The four of us were sleeping in a house in the village and that night some of the villagers came to tell us they had trusted the Lord, two of whom were husband and wife. Their names are Kasasi and Mandaeka.
On Sunday evening we got permission from the chief of another small village to preach there and Papa Lekanda rounded up a congregation by walking through the village shouting "Come and hear the good news, come and hear the word of God!"
Please pray that the Christians in Congo-Bashi will grow in their faith and for Papa Lekanda as he follows up with those who professed to be saved in both villages. We leave at 5am tomorow for the conference in Moba. Prayer is appreciated for travel.
