The three day conference in Kalemie went well with four two hour sessions each day. These sessions consisted of teaching in the hall and then smaller groups where passages of scripture were read, studied and discussed. I'm told it has been 50-60 years since the last resident missionary left Kalemie but there are a few strong Congolese Christians there and many assemblies in the area. The need for Bibles, teaching and literature is evident. Some of the believers gathered with us early yesterday morning to sing and to commit our two day journey to the Lord. Sadly we passed five serious accidents yesterday, some of which were fatal with bodies lying at the side of the road.
Whilst sad it causes us to give thanks to the Lord who has blessed us with safety as we have traveled by car, motorbike and boat where bailing out was more than essential! Even at a time of increased political tension in the area we visited there were no problems with security at all. In fact, we ended up with three (friendly) soldiers squeezing in with us for the last leg to Luanza last night.
We made it safely back to Lubumbashi this afternoon and this evening has been spent printing another 1000 magazines in Swahili. Please pray for lasting fruit from the word.
