The last week in the Luanza area has been a great encouragement as we have seen men and women going on for the Lord who either professed faith or were restored last year. A practicing witchdoctor called Kikunda professed to be saved during my last visit and it was a great joy to hear that he has since been baptised and brought into fellowship. He doesn't miss a meeting and each time I have passed his house he has been sitting studying his Bible (pictured) and the Bible teaching magazine we are distributing. Please pray for him as he faces a variety of challenges. He has been taking me to visit practicing witchdoctors to share the gospel with them and that has been quite an experience. One man called Kasukoseya has listened at length to the gospel but is bound in fear.
There is a very ripe harvest in this area and despite the spiritual darkness here many are trusting the Saviour. On Saturday after the conference a women professed faith in Christ publically and confessed to being involved witchcraft and cannibalism. It was a costly profession for her. Satan has has a firm grip on many lives here but we give thanks for the precious blood of Christ and gospel which is the power of God unto salvation.
In 2014 Marilyn and I spent time with elders 45km from Luanza. We gave them gospel literature and began door to door visitation with them. On Sunday a very godly brother called Papa Lekanda informed me of a village called Congo-Bass deep in the bush that he had been visiting with the tracts and that 7 men and women had been saved in the village. Others also started to show an interest who formally gathered in other churches. There is now no other place of worship in the area. They started to gather each Sunday to study the Bible together under a tree (pictured) but have now bought a house to gather in. They have also started a Sunday School with between 30 and 40 kids attending each week. Three of us travelled out on a motorbike to visit them on Sunday morning and it was a very special time of fellowship. Two of them are baptised and God willing it looks like an assembly will be planted there. Plese pray for them as they now begin to study the literature we left with them.
Today three of us went by motorbike to visit 5 other remote assemblies. There was opportunity for a short word at each and the gospel was preached to a good number of adults and children.
We leave early tomorrow morning for Kalemie and would value your prayers for safety as we travel.
