I am pleased to be back in South Africa, currently working in Gospel outreach with the assembly at Northpine, in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. I am working with Rodney Brown who is originally from Larne, Northern Ireland but has been serving the Lord in South Africa for around 15 years.
Northpine assembly has around 15 believers in the fellowship. A few of us are going into the surrounding areas each morning door to door with invitations followed by open air preaching. Some of the surrounding areas are fairly rough with gang related violence not uncommon. Yesterday during the open air a chap walked passed with a machete in his hand - he was not a gardener! Having said this we have had complete freedom in sharing the Gospel. The people are often happy to chat on the doorstep. Some will invite you into their homes and will let you share the Gospel and pray. It is an amazing privilege but hot work!
The open airs are profitable with some people coming out of their houses to sit on the doorstep and listen. The people are generally poor, disillusioned, and have often had what I would consider a very rough life. We are also preaching every night in the Gospel hall and these meetings have been well attended so far. The biggest night was 80-90 people with 20+ unbelievers.
The outreach continues until Sunday 14 Feb God willing. Your prayers are appreciated for safety, help to preach the Gospel and blessing to follow. After the outreach I then move on to Bible Teaching in Cape Town before visiting the assembly in Hermanus for a Bible Teaching weekend. I will then be leaving the Western Cape province for a short visit to Kwa-Zulu Natal 1,000 miles North East of Cape Town.
