India is a great country. The Lord has been good. Arrived in Bangalore on 26th January. Picked up by Ron Penny. Didn't think I would live for long, his driving and others on the road was crazy. I am working out at a place called Kollegal, Karnataka state, nearest city is Mysore. We are doing building work for a Christian girls home. It's a bit like an orphanage. Many of the residents are from abusive homes, some are dumped at the gates of the home, unwanted because they are girls.
Here they receive the love and care of Christians, and are given an education at the local Christian School. Many of them have come to know the Lord Jesus. The girls are the sweetest, nicest kids I have ever seen. We have all our meals with them and I love to chat and laugh with them. I am working alongside a Brass Tacks worker, Paul Dodds. He lived in India for 20 years so he is a good man to be with. He has taken me around a few places and showed me some of the local culture. India is steeped in Hinduism, a dark religion of superstition, bondage and fear. It makes me appreciate the wonderful privilege of being saved and knowing the Living, Loving God.
The weather is very hot, 32 degrees most days. The food is interesting; pretty much curry for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. But I am really enjoying my time and the practical work is coming on well.
