Now that the Summer seems to have passed it is time to look ahead to the next session of the Bible Class at Hope Hall. We have spent most of our time over the last few years studying books from the New Testament. We have studied verse by verse through Revelation, Romans, 1 Corinthians as well as spending time in New Testament based topics relating to the Local Church and relationships.
On Friday 28th August we will be starting a new series of studies in the book of Judges; a book which records the repeated cycle of sin, discipline, repentance and recovery in Israel which took place after the death of Joshua and prior to the establishment of the monarchy. Although it is not written to or even about Christians, as scripture, it was "written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope" (Romans 15:4).
We will study the colourful characters in this book from Othniel to Samson and see the remarkable faithfulness of God and equally remarkable unfaithfulness of His people. As we do so it will be with the intention of learning the lessons which will enable us to avoid falling into the same destructive cycle of sin in our lives.
