I am having a few meetings in Carrickfergus Gospel Hall, Northern Ireland in anticipation of a Gospel series later in the year.
The chief joy of this visit is to renew fellowship with two couples who are an important part of my teenage years. Hilton and Anne Lowe and Jim and Barbara Brown will be well remembered by my generation from the Hope Hall Bible Class. Hilton and my dad arranged swap visits by the Ballyduff Bible Class and the Hope Hall Bible Class. We went to them and they came to us every year. They were great weekends of "craic", fellowship and "cultural exchange" .. I loved them and looked forward to them every year.
My brother David and I stayed with Jim and Barbara Brown. We have happy memories of these days and Jim's mad driving among other things. These were the days when the Troubles were in full swing and we found Belfast fascinating. I also vividly remember seeing men kneeling in a prayer meeting for the first time, tears at the Lord's Supper and 2 speakers at a Gospel meeting (not a great thought when you are 13 years old !).
What a pleasure to tell Hilton that Margaret McClure is going on well for the Lord in New Zealand, 30 or so years since she got saved under his preaching at Hope Hall during one of their visits.
