Thank you to everyone who prayed for the printing work that's been going on here in Lubumbashi. We have been able to print, collate and bind 3000 gospels of John in the much needed Kiluba language. They are now boxed and ready to be sent to the areas with the greatest need. These boxes will be loaded on to an overloaded and unreliable truck which will be travelling on mud roads so please pray that they arrive in good condition. Word has already spread that these have been produced and requests for Bibles and literature are coming in each day.
A lot of time has been spent writing, translating and editing articles for the magazine that I've mentioned. Fidele, Bondo and Serge have all worked hard to help put this together and have called it Avançons which means let's advance. We finished printing today and most of the magazines have now been bound and packaged for distribution. I am particularly pleased that Andre who has been working with me has learned how to use to the Risograph printer and today he was able to do a lot of the printing himself. Avançons is a very simple little booklet but we hope that the gospel and Bible teaching content will have an impact on the many people here who don't have a Bible. So far we have only been able to produce it in French but my friends here are pushing for it to be translated into Kiluba, Swahili Congo, Bemba and Chokwe. One step at a time!
I am so thankful to the Lord for making this possible but I have been brought down to earth by the news that the "JW's" are building a translation centre on the same street where I'm staying. Without sounding too harsh...please pray the Lord does whatever it takes to stop that from happening! I was teaching from 2 Chron 32 the other day and I have been encouraged by the words of Hezekiah. "Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles." Please find a place in your prayer list for the many needs and opportunities in Congo. To God be the glory.
